Clothing plays a huge role in our culture today. The most popular sports like basketball, football, and soccer are supplemented by lifestyle brands like Adidas, Nike, and others that allow enthusiasts to express their love for the game. This does two things: it creates exposure for the sport in everyday life, and integrates that sport into our culture. The saying goes, "Out of Sight, Out of Mind," and part of the reason these sports are so prevalent in our minds is because we see lifestyle branding for those sports on a daily basis.
The mission of Saddlethreads is to re-integrate equestrian sport into our culture through lifestyle branding. Our society is moving away from farm life and toward more urban living, and fewer people than ever have horses in their daily lives. Through Saddlethreads, you can wear apparel that reflects your favorite breeds and disciplines, and share your love for horses with people in an easily accessible way!
Our clothing is one of the most influential ways we express ourselves - more than likely, you can tell where a person went to college, what sports team they cheer for, where their kids go to school, and what they do on a daily basis, just from their clothing. At Saddlethreads, we are putting that power to work for equestrians by designing original equestrian apparel and gifts, so you can live your passion both in and out of the barn!
Saddlethreads founder Karly Morgan grew up riding and showing saddleseat American Saddlebred horses. During college, she had the chance to take lessons from experienced trainers in a variety of disciplines - hunter on the flat, jumping, dressage, cross country, western pleasure, reining, and more, on breeds including the American Saddlebred, Morgan, Hackney, Quarter Horse, Arabian, Marsh Tacky, Paso Fino, Peruvian Paso, Paint, Thoroughbred, Warmblood, Tennessee Walking Horse, and a few wonderful ponies!
The most important thing she took away from her experience is a love for horses - whether your horse lopes slow, trots high, soars over jumps, or slides to a stop, we should celebrate the talents that each horse has to offer, and support each other not just within our own breed or discipline associations, but as equestrians. We all have one thing in common, and it's the most important thing - we love our horses.
Karly has two degrees from Wake Forest University, in Studio Art & Digital Media Communications, and will graduate Law School in May 2020.
